Determination is the KEY of success…. (maybe luck is……..)

Of Unnecessary Competition,Fake Drama and Abstract Thinking

Filed under: Uncategorized — ilanila at 10:37 am on Thursday, March 27, 2008

Things have been melancholic lately. Let me start with the unnecessary energy-wasting competition with the other group from a different country that combine classes with us. Come on ppl, they even compete to reach class earlier to ‘book’ places for their friends, rushingly pull out their credit book to be signed by one of the teachers(only one group should hand over their zachuts to this particular teacher)
This is so depressing coz they were friends with us since 1st year and now they are all changed after sharing classroom with another group of students during the last semester. Probably they thought all of us have same views…(the other group was looking-down on them). So here we are having to toleratet this unnecessary competition for ridiculous reasons.

Today I was looking at the teachers key chain and what I saw first was the formation of letter ‘E’ which I naturally thought is the initial of her name. Then whole class was surprised why I can’t see the elephant picture on top but the letter E. And all of them claim that they have abstract thinking and I’m not padahal I saw the abstract side of the key chain which is a letter formation not something drawn on top of it. Sometimes without knowing the real meaning of abstract mind,non-abstract-minded people judge the abstract ones and literally ‘insult’ them for being different while they fail to realize that these ‘different’ people are the inventors. I’m not boasting myself here, its just depressing when almost all what we say(which we know for sure it’s the fact) are debated as being wrong. How do we correct this hard-headed attitude of some people…..

Learning is only the first small part of studying to become a doctor….what matters most is the application of knowledge on daily life -in conversation, diagnosing patients, prescribing treatment etc.

Happiness matters most……

Ambulance practicals last Saturday was uneventful. My brigade was the general one, so the cases comprise of hypertension, chest pain and more hypertensive patients. There was a case of milk stasis, probably on the way to develop mastitis. Another one - pancreatitis.
Now I get to correct my assumption which was - ambulance admits every patient they see to hospital. Of the 8 patients I saw, only 2 were admitted. This is only 25%.
Another day of ambulance practical coming up this coming Saturday. I wish to see more interesting cases this time.

Isn’t it ironic? We will wish to see good cases, which means somebody has to fall sick, really really sick! So isn’t that indirectly wishing for someone to fall ill so that we could have a glimpse at their sufferings and add it into our memory collection of clinical presentations of different diseases.
So, does this wish helps continue bring business for the medical industry? Is this the real reason more people are falling sick at the cost of producing more doctors for the population?
Think ppl!
As for me, I’d rather see a happy smiling patient than a sick suffering poor being. I might not get to do procedures but I’ll be happy when surrounded by happy people. Being happy matters most after all.

Another lyrics post =)

JAG SOONA SOONA LAGE

Lyrics – Javed Akhtar
Punjabi Lyrics – Kumaar
Singer – Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Richa Sharma
Arranged by - Jackie V.
Guitar – Kalyan Baruah

Main toh jiya na mara
I’m neither dead nor alive

Hai ve das main ki kara
Oh lord, what do I do?

Dil jude bina hi tut gaye hath mile bina hi chhut gaye
Hearts broke before they could join, hands parted before they could meet

Ki likhe ne lekh kismet ne
What has fate written for me?

Baar baar rod akhiyan tainu jo na vekh sakiyan
Tears rain down continuously without a glimpse of you

Khole aaye aaj kudrat ne
Even nature commiserates with me

Kataan main ki ve din teri soth tere bin
How do I pass the days and nights without you?

Main toh jiya na mara
I’m neither dead nor alive

Chhan se jo toote koi sapna
When a dream shatters in a flash

Jag soona soona laage, jag soona soona laage
The world seems an empty place

Koi rahe na jab apna
When there’s no loved one left

Jag soona soona laage, jag soona soona hai toh
The world seems an empty place

Yeh kyun hota hai
Why does this happen?

Jab yeh dil rota hai
When the heart weeps

Roye sisak sisak ke hawein, jag soona laage
The winds sob along, the world feels empty

Chan se jo toote koi sapna
Jag soona soona laage, jag soona soona laage

Koi rahe na jab apna
Jag soona soona laage, jag soona soona laage re
Soona laage re

Roothi roothi saari raatein
Nights are cold and unforgiving

Pheeke pheeke saare din
The days are colorless

Veerani si veerani hai tanhaai si tanhaai hai
There’s only loneliness and desolation

Aur ek hum hain pyar ke bin har palchin
And here I am, every moment without my love

Chhan se jo toote koi sapna
When a dream shatters in a flash

Jag soona soona laage, jag soona soona laage
The world seems an empty place

Koi rahe na jab apna
When there’s no loved one left

Jag soona soona laage, jag soona soona hai toh
The world seems an empty place

Patharon ki is nagari mein
In this hard land

Pathar chehre, pathar dil
Are hard faces and hard hearts

Phirta hai maara maara kyun raahon mein tu awaara
Why are you wandering around aimlessly?

Yahan na hoga kuch haasil, mere dil
You’re not going to find anything here, my heart

Chhan se jo toote koi sapna
When a dream shatters in a flash

Jag soona soona laage, jag soona soona laage
The world seems an empty place

Koi rahe na jab apna
When there’s no loved one left

Jag soona soona laage, jag soona soona hai toh
The world seems an empty place

Yeh kyun hota hai
Why does this happen?

Jab yeh dil rota hai
When the heart weeps

Roye sisak sisak ke hawein, jag soona laage
The winds sob along, the world feels empty

Chhan se jo toote koi sapna
When a dream shatters in a flash

Jag soona soona laage, jag soona soona laage
The world seems an empty place

Koi rahe na jab apna
When there’s no loved one left

Jag soona soona laage, jag soona soona laage re
The world seems an empty place

Soona….laage re more
Empty to me

The Road less travelled…..

Making the correct decision- remember whats popular might not always be correct!

A group of children were playing near two railway tracks, one still in use while the other disused. Only one child played on the disused track, the rest on the operational track.

The train is coming, and you are just beside the track interchange. You can make the train change its course to the disused track and save most of the kids. However, that would also mean the lone child playing by the disused track would be sacrificed. Or would you rather let the train go its way?

Let’s take a pause to think what kind of decision we could make…

Most people might choose to divert the course of the train, and sacrifice only one child. You might think the same way, I guess. Exactly, I thought the same way initially because to save most of the children at the expense of only one child was rational decision most people would make, morally and emotionally. But, have you ever thought that the child choosing to play on the disused track had in fact made the right decision to play at a safe place?

Nevertheless, he had to be sacrificed because of his ignorant friends who chose to play where the danger was. This kind of dilemma happens around us everyday. In the office, community, in politics and especially in a democratic society, the minority is often sacrificed for the interest of the majority, no matter how foolish or ignorant the majority are, and how far sighted and knowledgeable the minority are. The child who chose not to play with the rest on the operational track was sidelined. And in the case he was sacrificed, no one would shed a tear for him.

You would not try to change the course of the train if you believed that the kids playing on the operational track should have known very well that track was still in use, and that they should have run away if they heard the train’s sirens.

If the train was diverted, that lone child would definitely die because he never thought the train could come over to that track!

Moreover, that track was not in use probably because it was not safe. If the train was diverted to the track, we could put the lives of all passengers on board at stake! And in your attempt to save a few kids by sacrificing one child, you might end up sacrificing hundreds of people to save these few kids.

While we are all aware that life is full of tough decisions that need to be made, we may not realize that hasty decisions may not always be the right one. Remember that what’s right isn’t always popular… and what’s popular isn’t always right.

Ps: ciplak the story from a blogger, but wats more important is the msg it sends.

Its time to reflect your previous decisions my dear PM,
-not coming out of your cosy putrajaya office when group of indians, mostly student in formal clothes awaited for hours in front of your office under hot sun to handle you a memorandum to look after the minority Indians
-again,not being there to receive the memorandum when thousands came to the streets, this time u sent ur konco2- FRU and police
-yet again on Feb 16 when childrens with their parents came to give you roses,u were being arrogant by sending ur konco2 to take these innocent ppl to Pulapol.
all of it which I think u regret MOST now…..

Its time to reflect !

Winds of Change claimed a bigger part of the country. Let’s wait and see what the ruling coalition can do for the citizens to gain back their support. Or will they drift apart??

Today,we had “fun” writing from 8 30 am till 130pm till extramuscle and fissure(groove) found on my middle finger. Even the extensor tendons somehow felt like being pulled from elbow downwards.
More writing is waiting…..

Passion is indeed very important for the excellence in everything we do. Once we have the passion,we can complete whatever task is assigned to us no matter how tough.

Excellence doesn’t mean to excel in education only….its far beyond that……..
It has to do with social skills, general knowledge, many different skills, and more.
To be or not to be this complete person is our choice.
Anyway, not all looking-perfect person are interesting to know.
Sometimes, the most complicated can be the most interesting person.

Nothing in da world has ever been accomplished without passion!
