Infinity

“The only way to comprehend what mathematicians mean by Infinity is to contemplate
the extent of human stupidity.” – Voltaire

Came across this phrase yesterday… couldn’t agree more! But it has nothing to do with these post! =)

Nizhny Games 08 went alrite…..the committee did a great job indeed!
As an outsider of the organizing committee…. I see mostly perfection…
Been to the 1st ever Intervarsity Games in Moscow..it was something like ours this time… so that means these group of ppl really deserve a loud applause.
Volgames which I took part was fun except for the food part….
Nizhny proved that with so little manpower….we could do something big!

I wasn’t in charge of anything…..I wish I was….but that was because nobody approached me. I was still there during the first day…… lending tiny bit of help…
Badminton match fixing?? That was hilarious! One by one team asked for preferences except Kursk…maybe since they already know they are the winners =)
MAI wanted to get away from the court asap back to Kstovo as they are losing everything and so they walk-over. Later Volgo walk-over due to lack of players.
So in the end it was only all matches between Nizhny and Kursk…..
I was sad though as my favorite player end up didn’t play singles…. That would have been a great game to watch.

From my observation, this games has turn sour…..not more of a friends get together but enemies in the making….. The 1st two I’ve been(moscow and Volgo) was fun…..many made new friends….. and it wasn’t a rough game at all!

Here there was a fractured nose, broken eye glasses, swollen lips…and latest a fractured tibia!
This is not the way it suppose to be…
I hope Volgo will bring back the true spirit of the games!

Joke for the day…

An about 80 y.o male patient was taking a walk along the corridor when me and 2 guys of my group went to 6th floor of 5th hospital. We were literally hunting patient for our video demo in order to get Russian avtomat…. Suddenly this dear patient came up to me..

Pat: Skolko liet dedushki? (how old is the grandpa)
Me: kto? (who?)
Pat : repeat ques
Me: Ya ne panimayu (I do not get ur ques)
Pat : Skolko liet dedushki kotori s vami prishli suda? (how old is the grandpa whot came here with you)
Me: *confused* Izvinitye pazaluishta….ya ne ponimayu (I’m sorry but I still don’t get ur ques)
Pat: repeat same ques with his hand demonstrating a person with beard
After few seconds,I saw my dear classmate with his ‘kambing’ janggut…
Then I got the joke….
He was referring to this classmate of mine - grandpa with long beard….

ROTFL

ps: I’ve no russian keyboard..sorry for the English version of Russian…

After many failed attempts to get patient to talk to us for 5-10 mins for the video demo….. we nearly gave up…until we met a kind 67 year old who willingly talked to us…
He is a Prof of Genetics in Agricultural University of Gorkovo….and he knows English….
a good patient indeed….

too sad after getting the not so good news from a fren….
why this shud happen? Could i have done anything to help prevent it?
Not feeling guilty coz i know i tried my level best to help……..just not feeling quite right …..
When many are living with masks…….surviving the ordeals with imitations…..
How could you let yourself to be fooled????

Can just hope that you made the right decision….
See you soon

The last day of intensive therapy rotation went all well……we managed to leave as early as 10.30am as there was nothing much to be seen or done.
Well It started with Prof Pichugin showing us method of anesthesia induction, endotracheal intubation, central line catheterization…which both weren’t visible coz there were 8 of us trying to sneak a peek at what he was actually doing….
Mech_vent

Anyway, the endotracheal tube was told to have a bacterial filter….which left us wondering why….and we concluded that its for filtering the infection the patient might be having from contaminating their supply tank or whatsoever……
Moments later,I saw the nurse pulling a long tube to a place outside the OR…..
probably to the next room which has their Oxygen tank or Ventilation itinerary of some sort….but I was wrong.

Terrified in amazement… thats what we all felt when we saw these….

Intersection between Justice and Truth

Inspired from the movie 88 minutes, I couldn’t quite figure out the intersection though. Maybe we’ll need to be a forensic psychiatry expert before we could do that. Yes such profession exists, I got to know only after watching the movie. =)

So, lets do this, what’s the Intersection between Logic and Knowledge?
Do we use knowledge more or logic more and in which circumstances.

Rescuers

This is a story I read sometime ago somewhere I can’t recall, found it again today and decided to share here,

Therewas a big flood in a village and when everybody was scrambling out of their houses , a man remained inside his, adamant that God will come and save him. The water began to rise, rescuers came and he said to them , “ God will save me”. Water rose to hip level , rescuers came in boats , asking him to leave. He said “ God will save me”. When the water level reaches roof level he climbed on top the roof , still waiting. Helicopter came and he shook his head. Finally he drowned and when he came face to face with God , he asked God ,” God , why didn’t you save me? I was waiting for you to come save me, and you let me die”. And God said ,” I sent help in the form of rescuers , you turned me down.. then I sent the boat and the helicopter and you still turned me down”.

Rescuers are sent by The One above at times of need.

Well in my life,I’ve came across a number of them whom I most appreciate.
This are people who appear temporarily in our lifes to guide us and they’d leave when their mission accomplished. We can observe these as Crossed Path where we meet someone new,get to know, advice each other etc etc.

Both parties were made to cross each other’s Path of Life for a reason only He knows. I mean there is a reason we are where we are. So we should learn as much as long as the path is crossed. When the times comes,we should go in separate ways as a stronger person….shouldn’t just cling on and stand at the crossroads with hopes. Life goes on…..

Reflect back into your past and I’m sure u’ll have similar experiences.
=)

Still considering joining the Paramedics team for the upcoming games……

Relapsed Endeavor

Sometimes when we listen to songs, some words might stick to our gray matter (or watsoever) and keep repeating in our mind. Some with real deep meaning does so too….

Today when listening to these words, it automatically clicked to my mind, ‘Why ppl shud hate each other? Why there can’t be love alone in the universe? Is it created this so we wouldn’t drown in euphoria? =)
Love,I mean is the affectionate feeling towards ppl around us without discrimination:relation, skin color, religion, believes etc.

Duniya me.n kitnii hai.n nafraten How much hate exists in the world!
phir bhii dilo.n me.n hai.n chaahaten Yet, even so, hearts continue to love.
duniya me.n kitnii hai.n nafraten How much hate exists in the world!
phir bhii dilo.n me.n hai.n chaahaten Yet, even so, hearts continue to love.
mar bhii jaa’e.n pyaarwaale Even if lovers should die,
miT bhii jaa’e.n yaarwaale even if they are erased from this earth,
zi.nda rahatii hai.n unkii muhabbaten.. their love will live on forever…
mar bhii jaa’e.n pyaarwaale Even if lovers should die,
miT bhii jaa’e.n yaarwaale even if they are erased from this earth,
zi.nda rahatii hai.n unkii muhabbaten… their love will live on forever…

If somebody already misunderstood by these lines, let me remind you to look above for the bolded sentence.

My point is,each and every being is unique in their own way. Respecting and learning to give-and-take is necessary. Patience may not last for long in one group of ppl if the other takes for granted.
Life is about tolerance.

Mother Nature’s wanted to nurture us by oxygen but we are here congesting ourselves with carbon monoxide…….

Ps: some claim that my blog content is ‘heavy’…..
In my opinion,it is not and I’m only pointing out facts….
The willingness of your unique self to think about is totally up to you….

Happy Spring!

Of Unnecessary Competition,Fake Drama and Abstract Thinking

Filed under: Uncategorized — ilanila at 10:37 am on Thursday, March 27, 2008

Things have been melancholic lately. Let me start with the unnecessary energy-wasting competition with the other group from a different country that combine classes with us. Come on ppl, they even compete to reach class earlier to ‘book’ places for their friends, rushingly pull out their credit book to be signed by one of the teachers(only one group should hand over their zachuts to this particular teacher)
This is so depressing coz they were friends with us since 1st year and now they are all changed after sharing classroom with another group of students during the last semester. Probably they thought all of us have same views…(the other group was looking-down on them). So here we are having to toleratet this unnecessary competition for ridiculous reasons.

Today I was looking at the teachers key chain and what I saw first was the formation of letter ‘E’ which I naturally thought is the initial of her name. Then whole class was surprised why I can’t see the elephant picture on top but the letter E. And all of them claim that they have abstract thinking and I’m not padahal I saw the abstract side of the key chain which is a letter formation not something drawn on top of it. Sometimes without knowing the real meaning of abstract mind,non-abstract-minded people judge the abstract ones and literally ‘insult’ them for being different while they fail to realize that these ‘different’ people are the inventors. I’m not boasting myself here, its just depressing when almost all what we say(which we know for sure it’s the fact) are debated as being wrong. How do we correct this hard-headed attitude of some people…..

Learning is only the first small part of studying to become a doctor….what matters most is the application of knowledge on daily life -in conversation, diagnosing patients, prescribing treatment etc.

Happiness matters most……

Ambulance practicals last Saturday was uneventful. My brigade was the general one, so the cases comprise of hypertension, chest pain and more hypertensive patients. There was a case of milk stasis, probably on the way to develop mastitis. Another one - pancreatitis.
Now I get to correct my assumption which was - ambulance admits every patient they see to hospital. Of the 8 patients I saw, only 2 were admitted. This is only 25%.
Another day of ambulance practical coming up this coming Saturday. I wish to see more interesting cases this time.

Isn’t it ironic? We will wish to see good cases, which means somebody has to fall sick, really really sick! So isn’t that indirectly wishing for someone to fall ill so that we could have a glimpse at their sufferings and add it into our memory collection of clinical presentations of different diseases.
So, does this wish helps continue bring business for the medical industry? Is this the real reason more people are falling sick at the cost of producing more doctors for the population?
Think ppl!
As for me, I’d rather see a happy smiling patient than a sick suffering poor being. I might not get to do procedures but I’ll be happy when surrounded by happy people. Being happy matters most after all.

Another lyrics post =)

JAG SOONA SOONA LAGE

Lyrics – Javed Akhtar
Punjabi Lyrics – Kumaar
Singer – Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Richa Sharma
Arranged by - Jackie V.
Guitar – Kalyan Baruah

Main toh jiya na mara
I’m neither dead nor alive

Hai ve das main ki kara
Oh lord, what do I do?

Dil jude bina hi tut gaye hath mile bina hi chhut gaye
Hearts broke before they could join, hands parted before they could meet

Ki likhe ne lekh kismet ne
What has fate written for me?

Baar baar rod akhiyan tainu jo na vekh sakiyan
Tears rain down continuously without a glimpse of you

Khole aaye aaj kudrat ne
Even nature commiserates with me

Kataan main ki ve din teri soth tere bin
How do I pass the days and nights without you?

Main toh jiya na mara
I’m neither dead nor alive

Chhan se jo toote koi sapna
When a dream shatters in a flash

Jag soona soona laage, jag soona soona laage
The world seems an empty place

Koi rahe na jab apna
When there’s no loved one left

Jag soona soona laage, jag soona soona hai toh
The world seems an empty place

Yeh kyun hota hai
Why does this happen?

Jab yeh dil rota hai
When the heart weeps

Roye sisak sisak ke hawein, jag soona laage
The winds sob along, the world feels empty

Chan se jo toote koi sapna
Jag soona soona laage, jag soona soona laage

Koi rahe na jab apna
Jag soona soona laage, jag soona soona laage re
Soona laage re

Roothi roothi saari raatein
Nights are cold and unforgiving

Pheeke pheeke saare din
The days are colorless

Veerani si veerani hai tanhaai si tanhaai hai
There’s only loneliness and desolation

Aur ek hum hain pyar ke bin har palchin
And here I am, every moment without my love

Chhan se jo toote koi sapna
When a dream shatters in a flash

Jag soona soona laage, jag soona soona laage
The world seems an empty place

Koi rahe na jab apna
When there’s no loved one left

Jag soona soona laage, jag soona soona hai toh
The world seems an empty place

Patharon ki is nagari mein
In this hard land

Pathar chehre, pathar dil
Are hard faces and hard hearts

Phirta hai maara maara kyun raahon mein tu awaara
Why are you wandering around aimlessly?

Yahan na hoga kuch haasil, mere dil
You’re not going to find anything here, my heart

Chhan se jo toote koi sapna
When a dream shatters in a flash

Jag soona soona laage, jag soona soona laage
The world seems an empty place

Koi rahe na jab apna
When there’s no loved one left

Jag soona soona laage, jag soona soona hai toh
The world seems an empty place

Yeh kyun hota hai
Why does this happen?

Jab yeh dil rota hai
When the heart weeps

Roye sisak sisak ke hawein, jag soona laage
The winds sob along, the world feels empty

Chhan se jo toote koi sapna
When a dream shatters in a flash

Jag soona soona laage, jag soona soona laage
The world seems an empty place

Koi rahe na jab apna
When there’s no loved one left

Jag soona soona laage, jag soona soona laage re
The world seems an empty place

Soona….laage re more
Empty to me

Making the correct decision- remember whats popular might not always be correct!

A group of children were playing near two railway tracks, one still in use while the other disused. Only one child played on the disused track, the rest on the operational track.

The train is coming, and you are just beside the track interchange. You can make the train change its course to the disused track and save most of the kids. However, that would also mean the lone child playing by the disused track would be sacrificed. Or would you rather let the train go its way?

Let’s take a pause to think what kind of decision we could make…

Most people might choose to divert the course of the train, and sacrifice only one child. You might think the same way, I guess. Exactly, I thought the same way initially because to save most of the children at the expense of only one child was rational decision most people would make, morally and emotionally. But, have you ever thought that the child choosing to play on the disused track had in fact made the right decision to play at a safe place?

Nevertheless, he had to be sacrificed because of his ignorant friends who chose to play where the danger was. This kind of dilemma happens around us everyday. In the office, community, in politics and especially in a democratic society, the minority is often sacrificed for the interest of the majority, no matter how foolish or ignorant the majority are, and how far sighted and knowledgeable the minority are. The child who chose not to play with the rest on the operational track was sidelined. And in the case he was sacrificed, no one would shed a tear for him.

You would not try to change the course of the train if you believed that the kids playing on the operational track should have known very well that track was still in use, and that they should have run away if they heard the train’s sirens.

If the train was diverted, that lone child would definitely die because he never thought the train could come over to that track!

Moreover, that track was not in use probably because it was not safe. If the train was diverted to the track, we could put the lives of all passengers on board at stake! And in your attempt to save a few kids by sacrificing one child, you might end up sacrificing hundreds of people to save these few kids.

While we are all aware that life is full of tough decisions that need to be made, we may not realize that hasty decisions may not always be the right one. Remember that what’s right isn’t always popular… and what’s popular isn’t always right.

Ps: ciplak the story from a blogger, but wats more important is the msg it sends.

Its time to reflect your previous decisions my dear PM,
-not coming out of your cosy putrajaya office when group of indians, mostly student in formal clothes awaited for hours in front of your office under hot sun to handle you a memorandum to look after the minority Indians
-again,not being there to receive the memorandum when thousands came to the streets, this time u sent ur konco2- FRU and police
-yet again on Feb 16 when childrens with their parents came to give you roses,u were being arrogant by sending ur konco2 to take these innocent ppl to Pulapol.
all of it which I think u regret MOST now…..

Its time to reflect !
